Ectos NOT Droping? - Guild Wars Forums

I am new to the under world, I have only played there a few times. Night before last and last night I did a total of 10 'smitie' runs with a SS/SV Necro and a 55 Monk. One gold item droped, no ectos, 2 purples. Thats it. I don't get it I thought that the under world was to drop at least 1 ecto per trip. I know it wasn't the Monk snagging the drop before I saw it because the Monk in question was playing in the same room with me.

Has anyone been having the same issues?

this is just something that i heard so i dont know if it is true. apparently there is a new command that came out with the last patch that doesnt allow you to keep farming the same spot over and over. after doing it twice, the game fixes it so the drops are bad so you go somewhere else. for the first two runs though, just bad luck.

My partner and I just got 5 ectos between the two of us on a run yesterday. You probably just ran into a string of bad luck.

I believe so...I really am frustrated because I solo'd with SoJ for 10 runs and I cleared the hall and I got absolutely no ectos.

that is bad luck like times 10......i am a 55 monk in training hoping that ectos will drop for me and my guildie that comes.....as for the 5 drop limit thingy i dont know but my friend in my guild has done it loads of times and each time gets at least one ecto.....but hey begginers luck

I'm curious about the people you've grouped with, was it their first trips as well, or had they been, possibly farming previous to you grouping with them?

Just do quests. If you farm UW too much, drops get nerfed so you gotta clear a lot more or do something else.

We just do smite runs with quests (Ice King & Unwanted Guests) and average 4 ectos per run plus a few skill points (25K exp in reward) and gold drops.

its near to impossible to find a decent monk now adays, one that isnt afraid of every single monster...and one that doesnt bring smiting skills. ive pretty much given up on 2-man runs; too many terrible monks and 45-minute smite runs.

and theres a problem with smite skills on 55 monks. srry dont see where u mean that. i have 2 55 monks both carry SoJ and smite spell. and 45 mins to do smites runs is bad by then me and my tag alongs when i have them have cleared the village and worked our way up the dragon road by that long of a time. yeah id say there r terrible 55's out there. seen a few mostly there the ones using SB.

Actually your wrong... SoJ makes SS less effective... SoJ + SS is A LOT slower then just echo + ss...

So the noobs are the monks who carry SoJ...

on the contrary, I find way to many ss/sv necros that have no idea how to kill smites under 3 minutes, they cast sv, and then SS right after every time and don't understand why it's not working. They also do a bunch of other stuff like echoing SS instead of SV and having the smites, smite hex the SS's when SV runs out, then I have to wait for the necro to get energy back and give it another hopeless shot.

LOL you don't echo SV.... just agro more the 3 smites and SV will be that more effective... I try and agro 8+ smites at once .... you want the Necro to echo SS not SV!! WTF?!

SoJ pretty much ruins SS effectiveness ... and SB is basically the better (safer) way to go

i usually echo SV, cause the random 55 i team up with usually doesn't aggro a lot of smites, and even then still uses bonetti's while having SV on him, so it takes a pretty while till smites are drained ...

Eh, not a gurrantee to pop into UW and get ecto drops. Drops been dying ever since the new PVE tombs.
